Roof Styles
Gable roofs have two sloping sides meeting at a ridge traditional appearance with good headroom. Hip roofs slope on all four sides, with more complex framing but a finished appearance from all angles. Shed roofs have a single slope, simpler and lower cost. Roof style should complement your home's architecture.
Framing Materials
Pressure-treated lumber is functional and affordable but requires finishing. Cedar offers natural rot resistance and an attractive appearance. Timber frame construction uses large posts and beams with traditional joinery, a distinctive appearance at a higher cost. Aluminum or steel framing provides durability with different aesthetic options.
Roofing Materials

Ceiling Options
Exposed rafters show the roof structure, rustic appearance, and lower cost. Tongue-and-groove wood creates a finished look; various wood species are available. Pavilions range from 12x12 feet for small seating areas to 20x30 feet or larger for full outdoor kitchens and dining. Larger structures require more substantial foundations and framing. Size affects both cost and visual impact on your property.
